Wake up tomorrow to the most amazing oatmeal EVER!!! This recipe was given to me by my friend and client Lynn. You put all the ingredients in a slow cooker before you go to bed and wake up with the healthiest yummiest smelling breakfast all ready for you! I especially love it because it’s made with steel cut oats which are absolutely the best oats for you but I have never been very successful at cooking them on the stove. This way is the no fail way! Great as the fall weather starts to set in to! It’s also a great breakfast to have when you have company staying at your house. Your whole house smells wonderful like your grandma’s been cooking all night long! You can serve it right out of the slow cooker and when I have guests or even for a family breakfast I will put out toppings in little bowls for everyone to choose from like: all different kinds of nuts – walnuts, pecans, macadamia etc, raisins (i don’t put these in the slow cooker as not everyone at my house likes them so I just offer them as a topping), mini marshmallows for the kids, sprinkles, mini dark chocolate chips, apple sauce, cut up fruit like: bananas, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, rasberries, etc, flax meal, Fage yogurt, and any thing else I can think of that day! *2 cups steel cut oatmeal, 6 cups water,1/4 cup pure maple syrup, 1 tsp cinnamon, ¼ cup raisins if desired. Place all in slow cooker at bedtime turn on low for a great healthy treat in the morning!
