Customize your own smoothie with whatever you have in the fridge!!

Always want to make a smoothie but never seem to have the right fresh ingredients for any of those smoothie recipes??  That is so me and if that’s you too, this is for you!!!  I found a custom smoothie list on the Vitamix website and tweaked it so it is inline with eating BodyInstinct style!  There is so much on the list that you will definitely have enough stuff on hand to create your own custom smoothie!!!  There are 2 custom recipe lists.  One for green smoothies and one for fruit smoothies if you’re just not down with all the green yet or don’t have any available.  Each smoothie recipe makes a smoothie big enough to have for a breakfast or a lunch OR half a smoothie for a snack (when I only drink half for a snack i usually freeze the other half for later.  I then either throw the frozen half back in the blender to liquify or let it slowly melt in my car while I’m running around all day or on my counter and have it for my snack.)  I use a Vitamix but a regular blender usually works just fine too.  Here ya go:

GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPE

  1. Choose one item from Column A, two from Column B, and one from Column C.
  2. Place all your ingredients in the Vitamix machine, liquid first, then soft ingredients, then firmer ones.
  3. Add one cup of ice last.
  4. Secure the lid and select Variable 1.
  5. Turn machine on and slowly increase to your machine’s highest speed.
  6. Blend for 45 seconds or until smooth.
  7. Drink and enjoy.


Column A

2 cups spinach

1 cup kale

1/2 head of romaine

1 romaine heart

3/4 cup raw broccoli

1 small head of Bibb or Boston lettuce

Column B

1 cup grapes

1 apple

1 orange, peeled

1 cup melon, peeled

1 cup pineapple

1 cup berries

1 banana, peeled

1/2 cup cucumber, peeled or unpeeled

1 kiwi, peeled

1 carrot

1 cup peaches

1 cup mango, peeled

1/2 cup papaya, peeled

2 stalks celery

1 pear

Column C

1- 7 0z container of Fage 2% Greek yogurt

 

FRUIT SMOOTHIE RECIPE

  1. Choose 3 items from Column A and 1 from Column B.
  2. Place all your ingredients in the Vitamix machine, liquid first, then soft ingredients, then firmer ones.
  3. Add one cup of ice last.

Column A

1 cup grapes

1 apple

or 1 cup of any fruit

Column C

2 tablespoons of peanut butter or any nut butter

1/4 cup of ground flax meal

1/4 cup of any nuts

1 – 7 oz container of Fage 2% Greek yogurt
